Watch 'Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire' Final Trailer

Following one of the more audience-pleasing and visually striking Monsterverse installments with 2021’s “Godzilla vs Kong,” director Adam Wingard (“The Guest”) returns to helm “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.” The newest blockbuster from Legendary (“Dune Part: Two”) and Warner Bros. finds the two famous cinematic titans, now referred to as “the guardians of nature,” teaming up to fight a mysterious threat from within the Hollow Earth. A final trailer for the film swinging into theaters on March 29 has dropped (see below), has some legacy elements to previous films, and advises fans to get their tickets pronto.

“Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” has assembled a cast that features Rebecca Hall (“Godzilla vs. Kong,” “The Night House”), Brian Tyree Henry (“Godzilla vs. Kong,” “Bullet Train”), Dan Stevens (“Gaslit,” “Legion,” “Beauty & The Beast”), Kaylee Hottle (“Godzilla vs. Kong”), Alex Ferns (“The Batman,” “Wrath of Man,” “Chernobyl”), and Fala Chen (“Irma Vep,” “Shang Chi & The Legend of The Ten Rings”).

Here is Legendary’s logline for the film:

The epic battle continues! Legendary Pictures’ cinematic Monsterverse follows up the explosive showdown of “Godzilla vs. Kong” with an all-new adventure that pits the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence—and our own. “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” delves further into the histories of these Titans and their origins, as well as the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.

We’re still curious about where the franchise will go as “Monarch: Legecy of Monsters” attempted to tell a much smaller-scale story with the buzz-worthy Apple TV+ series. Plans for the next movie haven’t been made public, or whether they will consider returning to solo installments (though, can you go back now?). Meanwhile, Windgard has a couple of other projects in the works, including a feature take on the 1980s cartoon “Thundercats.” We’ll have to stay tuned for further announcements, but it remains to be seen if he’s returning for a third Monsterverse pic.

Again, “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” will be released on March 29. You can watch that final trailer below.
