This month sees the return of Guy Ritchie to the small screen, after last year’s pot crime comedy series spinoff “The Gentlemen” (already given a season two greenlight), with his latest London gangster effort “MobLand” and a new high-profile addition has been named to the cast ahead of the March 30 debut on Paramount+.
British actress Janet McTeer (“Ozark,” “The Old Man”) has been tapped to play a dangerous underworld figure as revealed by The Hollywood Reporter after recently being in the mix to join the “Harry Potter” reboot series alongside John Lithgow and appearing in the satirical thriller “The Menu.”
McTeer’s character, Kat, is described in the report as “as charming as she is violent,” and “Crime bosses from London to Beijing are anxious never to cross swords with her.” She joins a seasoned cast that already features Tom Hardy (“Taboo”), Helen Mirren (“1923”), and former James Bond actor, Pierce Brosnan (“Black Bag”).
The upcoming show’s synopsis from Paramount+ reads:
Power is up for grabs as the Harrigans and Stevensons, two warring London crime families, clash in a kill-or-be-killed battle that threatens to topple empires and ruin lives. Caught in the crossfire is Harry Da Souza, the street-smart ‘fixer’ as dangerous as he is handsome, who knows too well where loyalties lie when opposing forces collide. As kingdom goes up against kingdom, lines will be crossed – and the only saving grace is a bet-your-life guarantee: family above everything.
Some of the actress’ accolades include being nominated for the Best Actress Oscar for “Tumbleweeds” and landing a Best Supporting Actress nod for “Albert Nobbs” back in 2012.
As mentioned at the top, Paramount+’s “MobLand” can be streamed exclusively on March 30.
