Got a Tip?

‘Hail Caesar!’ Scarlett Johansson & Jonah Hill Join The New Coen Brothers Film

Don JonUpdate: The Wrap reports that Jonah Hill is also joining the film, but his role for now is being kept secret.

Let’s see, the new Coen Brothers movie “Hail Caesar” has George Clooney, Josh Brolin Channing Tatum, Tilda Swinton and Ralph Fiennes in it. Ok, sold already, but in case you need convincing (because you’re crazy), one more Coen Brothers alum is rejoining the fold: Scarlett Johansson, who co-starred in the siblings’ 2001 eerie existentialist drama “The Man Who Wasn’t There,” is joining the cast.

The movie takes place in the Hollywood’s golden age and follows a fixer (George Clooney) tasked with keeping the salacious scandals of the town’s biggest stars out of the press (not unlike Kevin Spacey’s role in “L.A. Confidential”). Tatum will play one such movie star, Fiennes will play a filmmaker and Swinton a gossip columnist. Johansson’s role is that of an actress who suddenly becomes pregnant as her film is about to go into production. Well, it’s certainly an interesting milieu, not unlike the one seen in the aforementioned Curtis Hanson film, but presumably with a more comedic spin to it.

Filming will likely take place in the fall, and Johnansson’s role is said to be small.  Universal will distribute and Working Title are producing. No release date yet, but we’d assume we’ll see this one in the fall of 2015.[Variety]
