After previously working with A24 on films such as the satirical slasher “Bodies Bodies Bodies” and the kink pic “Babygirl” starring Nicole Kidman and Harris Dickinson, Dutch filmmaker Halina Reijn is set to reunite with the studio for her next feature effort, “Please.”
Not only that, as Deadline mentions in their reporting, Reijn has recruited a lead actor, as they have tapped California-born Grammy-nominated musician Gracie Abrams, making this her big acting debut. Sadly, there aren’t plot or character details for “Please,” those will come in good time, but the reunion between A24 and Reijn should be thrilling enough for us for the time being.

Reijn is set to both write and direct the mysterious project, with help from frequent collaborator David Hinojosa, who will produce alongside Reijn through her Man Up banner, with A24 also producing and financing the pic; executive producer Zach Nutman is involved as well.
Enlisting musicians to take on feature roles isn’t new territory for A24, as their upcoming music industry comedy, “The Moment,” directed by Aidan Zamiri, sees Charli XCX playing a heightened fictional version of herself in the film that aims to lampoon the world of tours, the endless media circus, and celebrity culture.
If you’re not entirely familiar, Abrams just happens to be the daughter of Bad Robot CEO Katie McGrath and famed “Star Wars” franchise director J.J. Abrams, who has his next big feature film at Warner Bros. (referred to as an American fantasy film), and has an impressive cast that includes Glen Powell, Jenna Ortega, Emma Mackey, and Samuel L. Jackson.
