Got a Tip?

HBO Teases New Looks At ‘Westworld,’ ‘The Undoing,’ ‘Perry Mason,’ & More In 2020 Preview

HBO has had one hell of a 2019. Series like “True Detective,” “Big Little Lies,” “Euphoria,” “Succession,” “His Dark Materials,” “Veep,” “Barry,” and “Chernobyl” were all some of the best series on TV this year. And then as a bit of a mic drop, the network ended the year with “Watchmen,” which is not only the best superhero show ever produced but is easily one of the single best seasons of TV to come out in recent memory. But in a new video, HBO isn’t just here to talk about the past, the network also wants to show that it’s not slowing down in 2020.

After the end of “Watchmen” last night, HBO released a short video teasing what’s to come in the next year. And while the video doesn’t necessarily give away any surprises, the clips not only prove that the network is going to be the home of some of the best series on TV in 2020, but in the age of Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Apple TV+, and Disney+, HBO is still one of the best (if not the very best) platform to find the most quality original content.

The clips include looks at the upcoming seasons of “Westworld,” “The Outsider,” “The New Pope,” “The Undoing,” “Euphoria,” “Succession,” “Perry Mason,” “The Plot Against America,” and much, much more. Even if you take out the new seasons of some of the big hits like “Westworld,” “Euphoria,” “Succession,” and “The New Pope,” brand-new series such as “The Outsider” (based on a Stephen King novel and starring Ben Mendelsohn, Jason Bateman, and Cynthia Erivo), “The Undoing” (starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant), “Perry Mason” (starring Matthew Rhys and Tatiana Maslany, produced by Robert Downey, Jr.), and “I Know This Much is True” (starring Mark Ruffalo), it’s clear that not only is HBO trying to keep up the momentum from 2019 but is actually trying to add quantity to the quality of its programming.

It’s a tough world out there for TV platforms, as we are deep into the Streaming Wars, but HBO really does seem primed to carry the torch for premium content in the new year.
