The outlet reports that an animated drama series set within the world of George R.R. Martin‘s “Game of Thrones” franchise is developing interest behind the scenes. HBO Max/WarnerMedia is starting to meet with writers; however, they’re cautious this time, adding the caveat that the project might not come to fruition.
Plot details and where the show could take place within the timeline of Westeros aren’t mentioned, but tackling another story before the events of the previous Emmy-winning HBO series wouldn’t be a huge surprise to fans. WarnerMedia is about to begin filming the first spinoff, “House of The Dragon,” a prequel, as casting is ramping up in the spring. There have also been reports of development on an adaptation of Martin’s “Knight of The Seven Kingdoms” with the fellow prequel series “Tales of Dunk & Egg.”

“House of The Dragon” is said to debut in 2022 on HBO and HBO Max with a cast that consists of Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, and Emma D’Arcy. The show will focus on the Targaryen ancestors of Daenerys Targaryen, which means audiences can look forward to more dragons.

Some might not cross the finish line as a handful of spinoff shows that didn’t get past the development stage or picked-up for series, including a pilot starring Naomi Watts that would have tackled the origin of the White Walkers.
