‘I Saw The TV Glow’ Trailer: Jane Schoenbrun’s A24 Horror Mindbender Starring Justice Smith Arrives In May

Filmmaker Jane Schoenbrun has taken Sundance by storm, two films in a row now. Schoenbrun’s coming-of-age horror “We’re All Going to the World’s Fair” was a big breakout at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival and landed the director on the map. And this year, the writer/director’s latest, an A24 Film, “I Saw The TV Glow” saw some of the biggest raves come out of the festival.

Starring Justice Smith (“Pokémon: Detective Pikachu”), Brigette Lundy-Paine (“Bill & Ted Face the Music”), Ian Foreman (“Let the Right One In”), Helena Howard (“Madeline’s Madeline”), with Fred Durst (yes, that Fred Durst), Danielle Deadwyler (“The Harder They Fall”) and even an appearance by indie-rock sensation Phoebe Bridgers (boygenius), “I Saw The TV Glow” is about two teenagers who bond over their love of a television series. But after it is mysteriously canceled, their reality begins to blur. Indie rockers Haley Dahl of Sloppy Jane and Lindsey Jordan of Snail Mail also appear in this surreal, horror-ish mindbender.

Our review from Sundance was effusive and full of superlatives, describing it as an “entrancing, richly stylized trans masterpiece.”

Here’s the official synopsis:

Teenager Owen is just trying to make it through life in the suburbs when his classmate introduces him to a mysterious late-night TV show — a vision of a supernatural world beneath their own. In the pale glow of the television, Owen’s view of reality begins to crack.

Producers on the film include Emma Stone—seemingly throwing her weight around ambitious indie projects of late like “The Curse”— Dave McCary, Ali Herting, Sam Intili, and Sarah Winshall.

A24 has set a May 3, 2024, release date for “I Saw The TV Glow.” In the meantime, check out this awesome new trailer and look for the music tags at the end cause a lot of great artists, Alex G, Jay Som, and the aforementioned indie rockers in the film, are featured on the movie’s soundtrack.
