What may be the only HBO show that doesn’t have a massive budget for fake blood is returning this summer for season two. First coming to attention with her web series “Awkward Black Girl” that earned 25 million views, and then writing the NYT bestselling memoir “The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl,” Issa Rae created the fantastic HBO series “Insecure.” Tackling issues of race, identity, sexuality, and other complex matters with both sensitivity and wit, it’s a unique show with a powerful voice behind it.

While most of the details of the upcoming season are under lock and key, Rae did post a video on Twitter promising fans that “It’s about to get hot this summer.” She divulged very little, though, saying “Is Issa still single? No comment, Is Molly still single? No comment.” The one question she did choose to comment on is regarding the most pressing news of all: “Is Lawrence still fine? Yeah. Duh. I’ll comment on that all day” she said. One thing is for sure, though: they’re “coming back happier, stronger, better, doper than ever.”
Season two of “Insecure” will premiere on July 23rd.
