Got a Tip?

‘Iron Man 2’ Rumored For 3D Conversion, ‘Kick-Ass’ Gets April Release As ‘Expendables’ Is Pushed To August, ‘Star Trek’ For September IMAX Re-Release

Rumor has it Marvel and Paramount are looking to do a last minute convert of “Iron Man 2” into 3D for a theatrical release. Apparently they’re testing the waters with a one minute sequence that involves Mickey Rourke – though why you’d want to test out the technology with Rourke’s surgery-friendly face, we’re not sure. And to be honest, we’d be happy if this 3D “revolution” goes down with the ship: James Cameron “Avatar” in December.

– Matthew Vaughn’s adolescent-superhero-actioner “Kick-Ass” has officially been given an April 16th release date while Sylvester Stallane’s 80s-action-star-reunion “The Expendables” has been pushed from April 23 to August 20. Funny how these two are pretty much polar opposites under the umbrella of action films.

Someone trying to stay relevant for award season? Wishful thinking — and that’s understating it — around “Star Trek” being considered looks to have culminated in a re-release of the film in IMAX this September. Dates can be found at TrekMovie.com

Here is the first look at the sequel to Boon Jong-Ho’s “The Host” – a sequel is actually being made?! Bong has nothing to do with the film which is being helmed by Ning Hao and will reportedly center on a a calamity caused when people ignore a monster due to their desire for money.

As we reported last month, Stephen Frears is set to helm an adaptation of graphic novel “Tamara Drewe” with Gemma Arterton as his lead. Joining the cast though will be Dominic Cooper, Roger Allam, Luke Evans, Bill Camp and Tamsin Greig in the story which centers on a sexy flirt who returns to her small country village and stirs up dark passions among the locals.

– Paul W.S. Anderson is set to produce a 3D modern adapation of “The Three Musketeers.” Anderson co-wrote the script with Andrew Davies (“Bridget Jones’ Diary”) in which he says “corsets and feathered hats don’t take center stage” and rather is “rich in eye-popping action, romance and adventure.”

– “What these guys and Louis have set out to do is raise the Richter to 11,” Sam Worthington noted on Louis Letterier’s “Clash Of The Titans” remake which he is leading. “The scorpions the size of dump trucks, Medusa’s a lot quicker, a lot more scarier and the whole world itself is – we are shooting in actual locations that are big and epic in scope.”

Looks like that “Saturday Night Live” sketch-turned-film-project “MacGruber” is actually happening. Filming began this week with Will Forte, Kristen Wiig, Val Kilmer and Ryan Phillipe. Jorma Taccone of The Lonely Island fame is helming the R-rated picture.
