Jason Blum Teases Sylvester Stallone Meeting That Seemingly Points To The Actor Coming To 'The Purge' Franchise

Jason Blum might be a superstar producer that is revolutionizing the horror genre with his microbudget hits, but one thing he isn’t is subtle. And with a couple of new photos on social media, it would appear that the man behind Blumhouse Productions is lining up a new project with Sylvester Stallone that is more than likely ‘Purge’-related.

A few months ago, Blum shared a picture with “Halloween” star Jamie Lee Curtis. The caption basically just said that they were meeting and discussing things. A month or so later, two ‘Halloween’ sequels are announced, each featuring Curtis in the cast. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that Blum was teasing the announcement.

With that knowledge in hand, it’s clear that Blumhouse has plans for Stallone, as the founder of the production company made two tweets, with picture evidence, showing that he met with Stallone and brought along at least one pretty conspicuous filmmaker for the meeting.

“Me and these two jokers are about to meet #slystallone,” he tweeted. “#jamesdemonaco was so paranoid about being late that we got here 20 minutes early and have nothing to do but tweet.”

This was followed by a subsequent photo, confirming the meeting with Stallone, with the caption, “The meeting went great with #sly He did punch me because we were late.”

Now, how does this all link to “The Purge?” Well, the simple answer is that James DeMonaco is basically Mr. Purge. He’s the man that wrote and directed the first three ‘Purge’ films and wrote the script for “The First Purge.” Not only that, he’s the creator and writer of the USA Network adaptation of the franchise, simply titled “The Purge.” If he’s meeting with Stallone, one has to imagine it’s about the upcoming fifth ‘Purge’ film, which is said to be the end of the series.

And to be honest, of all the Blumhouse franchises, “The Purge” might just be the best one for the “Rocky” actor. His tough guy, ‘80s/‘90s action films seemingly served as a basis for at least the middle two ‘Purge’ films, ‘Anarchy’ and ‘Election Year,’ with Frank Grillo playing the role that would have gone to Stallone a couple of decades ago.

So, while we don’t have any inside information to spill, let’s just pencil in Stallone for ‘Purge 5’ and act surprised when it gets announced in the weeks to come.
