Believe it or not, last year’s “Halloween” reboot-quel earned more domestically than “Ocean’s 8,” “Ready Player One,” and “Bumblebee.” It was only a couple hundred thousand dollars behind ‘Fantastic Beasts 2.’ And making that more unbelievable is the fact that the budget for Jason Blum’s “Halloween” was a mere fraction of those films. So, when you see proof that Blum and his “Halloween” star Jamie Lee Curtis meeting up to discuss things, the topic they’re talking about is likely something to do with the blockbuster.
“We’re discussing stuff,” Blum recently tweeted, accompanying a picture of himself with Curtis and an action figure of her character Laurie Strode.

While it may be possible that Blum and Curtis were discussing politics, religion, “Avengers: Endgame,” or summer vacation plans, it’s just assumed that the “stuff” in question is a potential sequel to last year’s massive hit reboot “Halloween.”
40 years after the first film revolutionized the horror genre, influencing countless films in the process, last year’s “Halloween” not only exceeded expectations, but went on to become one of the most profitable films of the year. With only a $10 million budget, slightly high for a Jason Blum-produced film, the David Gordon Green-directed film earned over $255 million worldwide, once again making Michael Myers the biggest horror villain in the world.

Obviously, if you’re Blumhouse, and a film you produce earns that kind of money, a sequel is a no-brainer. So, it appears that perhaps Blum and Curtis are getting the ball rolling on what a “Halloween 2” might look like. Will Green and co-writer Danny McBride return? Will Curtis, once again, be the protagonist, or will she hand it off to her on-screen daughter and granddaughter?
