We’ve been heavily rooting for actress Jenna Ortega (“Hurry Up Tomorrow,” “Unicorn”), and she’s now attached herself to the next high-profile film from acclaimed French filmmaker Leos Carax, which is titled “Lily May B.” This gestating project was announced in the midst of a wave of deals and financing coming together during the Cannes Film Market, which concurrently occurs alongside the French film festival and sees a slew of projects seeking producing/distribution/financing partnerships.
As the report from Variety outlines, filming on “Lily May B” (Carax’s anticipated follow-up to the award-winning musical “Annette” that starred Adam Driver and Marion Cotillard) is aiming to begin within the window of spring 2027. However, an exact date wasn’t revealed today, and we’re going to settle for a cryptic synopsis before getting more concrete plot/character details.

“Once upon a time, there was a little girl, a young woman, and a young boy. They each held a secret too heavy to bear. They met in an end-of-the-world world, and together rode a big motorcycle through empty cities, deserted freeways, immemorial forests. On their journey, they encountered many dangers, but kept going. In search of who they were; in search of a place to B, maybe?”
Other things that Jenna Ortega is involved with are are an assumed Season 4 (not officially greenlit) of the hit “Addams Family” streaming series, “Wednesday,” alongside films such as the Taika Waititi-directed sci-fi adaptation “Karla & The Sun” that also features Amy Adams, will star opposite Taylor Russell in Sony’s “Single White Female” remake, the latest film from J.J. Abrams called “The Great Beyond,”, and David O. Russell‘s pool hustler pic “Shutout” that sees her co-starring with living legend Robert De Niro.
Hugo Sélignac of Chi-Fou-Mi Productions, a top French producer, is overseeing the Carax feature. “To me, Leos Carax is one of the reasons I fell in love with Cinema,” Selignac said in an official statement. “Having the chance to embark on this first journey alongside him means a great deal to me. ‘Lily May B’ carries forward his singular vision with the freedom, raw emotion, and visual power that are uniquely his. Seeing this universe meet Jenna Ortega’s immense talent today feels simply natural.”
Of course, Ortega won’t be the only actor on the call sheet of Carax’s “Lily May Bay,” but those names won’t be coming until September. The outlet has also provided concept art for the pic, which you can see below.
