Tomorrow will see the premiere of CBS‘ original series “Clarice,” a sequel series based on the fantastic Oscar-winning serial killer film “Silence of The Lambs” from director Jonathan Demme that starred Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins.

The new series will be following FBI Agent Clarice Starling, with Australian actress Rebecca Breeds taking over the role. This wouldn’t be the first time another actress inhabited the part as Julianne Moore played Agent Starling in the forgettable Ridley Scott sequel film “Hannibal.”
During a chat with Upprox, Jodie Foster revealed at the end of their interview that she has… well, something like maybe, probably potential plans to watch the upcoming series and is excited that her iconic character gets to continue citing the excellent writing of author Thomas Harris.
When asked if she’ll be watching the new show, she replied with a tip-toeing, diplomatic answer. “I probably…. I don’t know. I’m really happy that Clarice has a whole new life. That character keeps coming to life over and over again. It’s a testament to the original book by Thomas Harris. ‘Silence of the Lambs’ and ‘Red Dragon,‘ they’re really wonderful texts, and he’s an incredible writer. So, I’m glad that she continues to have a life moving forward.”

Asked if she would stop to watch it if she were flipping around on TV, Foster still wouldn’t commit. “I guess. I’m always going to be partial to our movie.” LOL, file that one under maybe Jodie Foster is ok with other versions of Agent Starling, but not this one.
This isn’t the first time Harris’ work has been adapted to the small screen as the Mads Mikkelson show “Hannibal” acted as a precursor to “Red Dragon” that eventually ended with three seasons. A recent update from Mikkelsen suggested that are potential ongoing discussions about a fourth season, due to the show’s popularity on Netflix. Still, an official announcement has yet to be made.

However, “Clarice” apparently won’t be making references to or even be allowed to mention Hannibal for legal rights issues reasons you can read about here.
