Got a Tip?

Jon Hamm, Dianne Wiest & Matt Lucas In Talks To Join The Kristen Wiig/Judd Apatow ‘Bridesmaids’ Comedy

The Judd Apatow-produced, Kristen Wiig-starring untitled wedding comedy is moving at full steam and should be shooting any day now.

Three new actors are in talks to join the cast and they include “Mad Men” star Jon Hamm, thespian Dianne Wiest (known recently for her excellent work on HBO’s “In Treatment”) and Matthew Lucas, who’s known in the U.K. for the hit comedy show, “Little Britain” (he was also in Tim Burton’s “Alice In Wonderland” as Twiddle Dee and Twiddle Dum).

Formerly known as “Bridesmaids,” the production has been amassing quite the cast with Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Chris O’Dowd (“The I.T. Crowd,” the upcoming “Gulliver’s Travels”) Ellie Kemper (Erin on “The Office”), Melissa McCarthy (“Gilmore Girls”) and Wendy McLendon-Covey (“Reno:911”) all joining the film’s troupe very recently.

A script hasn’t passed across our desks yet, but we’re hoping that changes soon. Update: It did, it’s early, we read it, but it’s kind of great. It doesn’t have Wiig’s writing on it, and it’s only credited to the original screenwriter Annie Mumolo, but we’re surely the draft that Wiig has helped out with is only going to get better. It just feels like it was written for her and is so suited to her sense of humor and sensibilities. Apatow will be re-teaming with his “Freaks & Geeks” collaborator Paul Feig who will be directing the film in time for its May 12, 2011 release.
