Jude Law To Star As Captain Hook In Disney's Live-Action 'Peter Pan'

Jude Law is clearly in the blockbuster phase of his career. After decades of building himself up to be one of the best actors in the business, he’s cashing in with big roles in Marvel Studios’ “Captain Marvel” and “Fantastic Beasts” at Warner Bros. And apparently, he’s ready to join yet another major project, Disney’s upcoming live-action ‘Peter Pan’ adaptation.

According to Variety, Law is in talks to star as Captain Hook in the upcoming Disney feature, “Peter Pan and Wendy,” which is set to be directed by David Lowery. The film is set to be the latest live-action adaptation of the classic ‘Pan’ story that has been seen in various forms over the decades. However, this is Disney’s first major attempt to bring the iconic tale to life in live-action, following the success of its various other live-action versions of animated features.

As mentioned, the film is expected to be directed by Lowery, who has previously helmed the live-action adaptation of “Pete’s Dragon” for the Mouse House. The script is co-written by Lowery and writer Toby Halbrooks.

In addition to the films listed above, Law has also starred in recent films and TV series such as “The New Pope,” “Vox Lux,” “The Nest,” and “The Rhythm Section.” He’s also set to star in the upcoming thriller series “The Third Day,” as well as a new “Sherlock Holmes” sequel.

“Peter Pan and Wendy” is the latest in a long list of adaptations of J.M. Barrie’s novel about a boy who refused to grow up and the mystical world of Neverland. The most recent adaptation was the critically-savaged flop “Pan,” starring Hugh Jackman. There was also the early-2000s “Peter Pan,” featuring Jason Isaacs as Hook. And who can forget Robin Williams starring as the adult Peter in Steven Spielberg’s beloved “Hook?”

It’s unclear when “Peter Pan and Wendy” will arrive in theaters, especially in light of all the pandemic delays.
