Here’s the thing about the Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. This is pretty much Jason Sudeikis‘ to lose. The “Ted Lasso” star already won a SAG Award and Golden Globe for his performance and that’s just on the acting side. His work has also landed him WGA Award and a PGA Award that would have likely been his if “Schitt’s Creek” hadn’t qualified for one more year. And all that love is why “Ted Lasso” is the presumed frontrunner to take the Comedy Series Emmy. But, who will join him in the premier Emmy category?

There are probably only two other locks, Michael Douglas (“The Kominsky Method”), who has been nominated twice before in the category, and Anthony Anderson (“Black-ish”), who has six nominations in this category. Neither has won. After that? There are at least 12 actors who will get some consideration and if you wanted to do an even broader sweep you could. The one thing we can guarantee? There will be surprises galore when this field is announced on Tuesday, July 13. [Posted April 29]
