'Dexter' Season 9 Teaser: Michael C. Hall Returns As The Serial Killer Hero Later This Fall

It’s been nearly a decade since “Dexter” ended its 8-season run on Showtime. And much like the more recent “Game of Thrones,” “Dexter” didn’t end in a way that many fans were pleased with. Speak to a fan of “Dexter” and say the word “lumberjack” and you’re likely going to get an eye-roll, at best, or complete revulsion, at worst. So, with that in mind, the folks behind “Dexter” are giving it another shot, with a brand-new season coming later this year.

And in the first teaser for “Dexter” Season 9, we don’t get much in the way of anything really. It’s just a song playing over a quick shot of our serial killer hero in a cabin in the woods. However, he does give that signature grin that lets fans know that Dexter is just as devious as before. Oh and he’s not sporting a terrible beard anymore, thankfully.

Other than what we have seen in this teaser and the casting that has been announced by Showtime, there’s not much else that we know about “Dexter” Season 9. Obviously, Michael C. Hall is leading the way as the title character. But, as of now, it doesn’t appear that any prior supporting cast will be making the return trip to “Dexter.” The new cast includes Clancy Brown as the reported villain, Johnny Sequoyah, Julia Jones, Alano Miller, Michael Cyril Creighton, Jack Alcott, David Magidoff, Jamie Chung, and Oscar Wahlberg.

Though Hall is the only returning cast member, a “Dexter” veteran, Clyde Phillips, is back on the series to showrun the new season. He was the previous showrunner for what many consider to be the heyday of the series, from seasons 2 to 4. He departed after the Season 4 finale, which many think stands above the rest as the premier season of “Dexter.”

A release date for Season 9 of “Dexter” has yet to be released, but you can watch the first teaser below.
