After toplining Martin Scorsese's "Hugo," featuring in Tim Burton's "Dark Shadows," recently wrapping Kimberly Peirce's horror remake "Carrie" (first official pics here) and gearing up to shoot "Kick-Ass 2," it looks like Chloë Moretz is ready to dial it back a bit and take on something smaller. Yep, it's the requisite indie pic, albeit one that will team her with a recent co-star.
Moretz is negotiating to star in "The Wilderness of James" in a role that will see her pair up with "Let Me In" pal Kodi Smit-McPhee. Penned by Michael Johnson, who will also be making his feature film debut, 'James' is a coming-of-age tale set in Portland centering on a boy dealing with an absentee father. He then befriends a local girl who turns out to be vampire. Oops, wrong movie. Sounds straightforward enough though, and nice chance for both actors to hang out again. And certainly, their chemistry on "Let Me In" was a good reason why the remake worked so well, so it would be nice to see them share the screen again.
Should it all come together, lensing on the pic will begin next month. [Deadline]
