Are you prepared to get lost in space, again? Hmm, that doesn’t quite work. How about this: are you prepared to remain lost in space? Better.
Despite a healthy dose of skepticism leading into the first season of Netflix‘s “Lost in Space,” the show won over a fair amount of its doubters with some excellent performances (Molly Parker!) and some A+ special effects. Of course, how a show performs on Netflix is anybody’s guess—you may have heard they’re not that big into sharing viewer data—and despite the show going into production in September 2018, Netflix had been uncharacteristically quiet about the second season. Until today, that is. The streaming giant hit New York Comic Con with a full-court press: a trailer, a few first-look photos, and a verified release date.

Like most shows that feature children in leading roles—cough, cough, “Game of Thrones,” cough—the first thing you notice about the trailer is that Maxwell Jenkins has grown about six inches since the end of the first season. The second thing you notice is the show’s continued commitment to stellar production design. The first season of “Lost In Space” featured the costumes and set design of a big-budget Hollywood blockbuster, and the show’s continued commitment to its believable science-fiction universe will excite fans to no end. It’s still one of Netflix’s best-looking shows, no matter how the human drama shakes out in 2019.
