According to Deadline, Yahya Abdul-Mateen ll is set to star in and executive produce the new series, “Man on Fire.” Joining Abdul-Mateen II on the project is none other than Steven Caple, Jr. who is probably best known for his work directing films like “Creed II” and “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.”

The new series is based on the “Man on Fire” novel series from author A.J. Quinnell. The books were previously adapted in the aforementioned film, “Man on Fire,” which stars Denzel Washington. The new series follows the story of a former special ops badass who is now dealing with intense PTSD and has to come out of retirement one more time.

Abdul-Mateen II is probably best known for projects such as “Aquaman,” “Watchmen,” and the forthcoming Marvel Studios series, “Wonder Man.” He also starred in films such as “The Matrix Resurrections,” “Candyman,” and “Ambulance.” Abdul-Mateen II is one of the most in-demand actors working today, and it would appear that his stock is only going to keep rising over the next few years.

It’s unclear when we might see “Man on Fire” arrive on Netflix, but with Abdul-Mateen II and Caple, Jr. on board, we are really excited to see what they can do together.
