‘The Mandalorian’: Gina Carano Fired From Lucasfilm Series Amid Anti-Semitic Social Media Remarks

Well, it looks like Cara Dune is done. Given the way she was playing so recklessly on social media all of last year, it was bound to happen. “The Mandalorian” star Gina Carano has been fired from Lucasfilm following some anti-Semitic statements she had made on social media earlier today.

“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable,” Lucasfilm said in a statement tonight.

Carano played Shock Trooper Cara Dune on the ‘Mandalorian’ series for two seasons and was expected to reprise that role in the upcoming “Star Wars” series “Ranger of The Republic” that is being developed by ‘Mandalorian’ co-creators Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni.

The former fighting champion turned actor shared a Tik Tok post today that compared the United States political climate to that of Nazi Germany and comparing the persecution of Jews to her conservative views. “Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors…even by children. Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. The hashtag #FireGinaCarano started trending on Twitter worldwide, and yet, it’s trended before. Carano has had an ugly history of controversial social media posts, so this firing was only a matter of time. She’s posted anti-mask, anti-vaccine rhetoric, amplified false voter fraud claims, backed a “Jeff Epstein didn’t kill himself,” conspiracy theory, published transphobic comments, posted pro-Insurrection, and “freedom” social media images, and generally has skewed closely to someone who might have bought into Qanon and other conspiracy theories.

Lucasfilm had clearly been following her posts and her social media controversies, but these anti-semitic statements were a bridge too far. Honestly, she did it to herself, and this was a long time coming.
