After dancing around the decision for weeks, it appears that Marvel has finally pulled the trigger and killed Marvel TV once and for all.
According to Deadline, Marvel TV, the division of the studio devoted to, uh, television projects, has been shuttered with all current projects officially moving under the Marvel Studios banner run by Kevin Feige. The report claims that there will be layoffs, particularly with those people who helped develop new content, as the only people moving to Marvel Studios are those working on the small list of current projects that are being worked on right now. Those shows include the four animated Hulu series, the final season of “Agents of SHIELD,” and the upcoming Hulu live-action series “Helstrom.”
Though, let’s be real, the likelihood that those animated shows will ever see the light of day seem very slim, right? Especially when you consider that one of them, “Tigra & Dazzler,” just got rid of its entire creative crew just days earlier. Needless to say, it’s obvious that Feige is in the process of slowly killing off each and every show that has the Marvel TV logo attached. Sorry, “Helstrom” and Co. Your days are numbered.
As mentioned, this change is part of what we’ve seen happening over the last several weeks since Kevin Feige took over the Chief Creative Officer job at Marvel, overseeing all movies, TV, and publishing. It’s clear that the future he sees on the small screen is with Disney+ and his own slate of prestige series featuring MCU stars and budgets that shows like “Runaways” and “Cloak & Dagger” could only dream of.

Just to put in perspective how little Feige thinks of the Marvel TV output, you only have to listen to his recent comments at CCXP. Though he’s never outright said anything terrible about the Marvel TV series, it’s clear that his lack of integration with the MCU speaks volumes. (I mean, how difficult would it have been to have just one throwaway shot of the Defenders turning to ash in ‘Infinity War?’) But seriously, when he spoke at the recent event in Brazil, he mentioned how the Disney+ series that he’s overseeing and helped develop are the “first time” that the MCU has been on the small screen. That complete disregard of the series that Marvel TV president Jeph Loeb and Co. have been producing for more than half a decade is obvious.
So, as we move to the future, it’s obvious that Disney+ is the premier location for all things Marvel television. And that’s just how Feige wants it.
