In case you missed it, “Terminator Salvation” director McG commented on Christian Bale-gate over the weekend at New York Comic Con.
“That day everything was cool. That happens, from the bottom of my heart it happens. A film set is a passionate place and it happens. The guy’s name is Shane Hurlbut, Shane is bigger than Christian, there’s no version of, ‘ooh Christian’ going to whip his ass,’ it was just sort of a blowout. And I was there with our Israeli Armed forces AD, a guy named Bruce Franklin We kept it safe, we let the steam blow out of it, cause from my experience trying to out huff and puff someone who is wound up isn’t conducive to getting to a better place. So, we just let it run it’s course, and you obviously only get to hear those explosive parts. but…. that remix is pretty hot.”
At one point, during McG’s answer he received some microphone feedback and stepped back and was like, “whoa, what is that?” to which someone from the audience responded loudly, “you and I are DONE professionally!” The audience roared with laughter, but McG did his best to maintain his composure and continue with his story.
This wasn’t the only interruption and outburst from the audience. When McG was discussing Danny Elfman’s inclusion in the project musically — plus mentioned Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and Gustavo Santaolalla as potential music contributors — a wiseass from the audience yelled out his disapproval of Elfman, by barking, “John Williams!”
The ‘T4’ director seemed perturbed by the outburst and went off, detailing why Elfman would work better and how Williams work was too “hyperbolic.” JT Williams, you’ve just been put on blast.
