Got a Tip?

Michael C. Hall Re-Teams With ‘Cold In July’ Director For New Netflix Mystery Thriller

Michael C. Hall has made quite a few interesting career choices since hanging up the knives as Dexter on his titular Showtime TV show. From starring in films like “Christine,” “Kill Your Darlings,” and even the recent “Game Night” to showing up in series like “The Crown,” Hall hasn’t been one to take on a massive big-budget film like many predicted. But for his next film, he’s going back to the world of crime scenes and murder, in “In the Shadow of the Moon.”

According to Collider’s Jeff Sneider, Hall is re-teaming with the director of “Cold in July,” Jim Mickle for the upcoming thriller, which will premiere on Netflix. Hall will star alongside Boyd Holbrook as a detective on the case of a killer. However, the twist comes when the killer is revealed to a be a woman who may or may not be from the future. Dun dun dunnnnnn.

As mentioned, director Jim Mickle is helming the project. He’s perhaps best known for his work on the aforementioned “Cold in July” and the film “We Are What We Are.” “In the Shadow of the Moon” is written by Gregory Weidman and Geoff Tock. Both writers have been working on TV lately, writing for both “Zoo” and “Limitless.”

Hall’s co-star, Holbrook, has seen his star rise in the last couple years. He starred as the villain in “Logan,” playing opposite Hugh Jackman. Holbrook will also be seen in the upcoming reboot “The Predator” from writer-director Shane Black. But before he was the star of blockbuster films, he had a role in Netflix’s drug cartel drama “Narcos.”

No word on a release date yet, but with Mickle and Hall teaming up again, “In the Shadow of the Moon” has the potential to be a thriller worth keeping an eye on.
