Michael Jai White likes to talk about "Black Dynamite 2" even though the sequel seems no closer to happening than it did when the original movie first came out in 2009. While promises were made this spring that shooting would get underway by the end of 2012, it looks like those plans didn't pan out, though the animated spin-off premiered this summer. But give White a microphone and ask him about the sequel and he shall speak, and it looks like a different genre is going to be ribbed this time.
"…it looks like we're getting closer to the decision of something that would be an homage to 'Blazing Saddles'. […] It's a western comedy in that spirit of 'Blazing Saddles,' but you mix that with 'Buck and the Preacher,' " he said on the red carpet for "Alex Cross" referring to Mel Brooks' classic and the western starring Sidney Poitier and Harry Belafonte. Look out Quentin Tarantino, someone else has watched old westerns too!
Of course, when/if this happens remains to be seen, but it does appear that an idea is formulating and it's a pretty good one. Until more info arrives, check out the brief interview with White below followed by the "Buck and the Preacher" trailer. [ComingSoon]
