Got a Tip?

‘Morbius’ First Clip: Is Jared Leto Vampire Here To Save The World Or Destroy It?

Between his prosthetic/fat-suit-wearing hammy performance in “House Of Gucci” and his upcoming role as an antihero vampire in Sony‘s “MorbiusSpider-Man spin-off film, we’re sure getting a lot of Jared Leto of late. While his press tour may not be as colorful as, say ‘Gucci’ director Ridley Scott, who knows what Leto did to get in character for the role, maybe sleeping in a coffin? Reading lots of comics? The possibilities are endless. Yesterday at Brazil CCXP 2021, Sony released a new poster and the first clip from the film.

In Sony’s “Morbius,” a character that figures into the Spider-Man universe and has been a friend and foe to the character in the comics, Leto plays a scientist suffering from a rare blood disease. He tries to save himself with experimental risks, and whattaya know, he messes with tampered blood and gains vampiric powers. The problem is, will he succumb to the bloodthirsty desire to kill, or will he fight for justice or whatever? For now, he’s probably staying in the “Venom”-like gray of anti-heroism until he maybe faces off against the web-slinger down the road.

Here’s the official synopsis:

One of the most compelling and conflicted characters in Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters comes to the big screen as Oscar® winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. While at first, it seems to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed. Will good override evil – or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges?

“Morbius” stars Jared Leto, Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal, and Tyrese Gibson, and Michael Keaton factors in with a small cameo as the Vulture (he’s probably in the post-credits too cause he recently revealed he was shooting something last minute for the movie).

Directed by Daniel Espinosa (“Snabba Cash“), “Morbius” is written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless and flies into theaters on January 28, 2022. Check out the first clip of the film below.
