Woody Allen's Son Defends His Father And Accuses Mia Farrow Of Abuse And Brainwashing

The Time’s Up and #MeToo movements have allowed victims of abuse to come forward unlike any time before. For years, Woody Allen has been at the center of child molestation allegations made by his daughter Dylan Farrow. As we’ve seen, these movements aren’t going away. And so it would seem, neither are Farrow’s allegations against Allen.

Recently, Moses Farrow, adopted son of Mia Farrow and Allen, has come to the filmmaker’s defense. While also bringing up allegations against his mother. In a blog post entitled “A Son Speaks Out,” Moses Farrow details his own account.“I’m a very private person and not at all interested in public attention,” he writes. “But, given the incredibly inaccurate and misleading attacks on my father, Woody Allen, I feel that I can no longer stay silent as he continues to be condemned for a crime he did not commit.” Parts of the blog post details alleged instances of Mia Farrow’s physical abuse. He also alleges Mia Farrow would stage and rehearse moments with her children. Moses Farrow refers to this as brainwashing.

Dylan Farrow has stood by her story. Saying on Twitter, “…this is an attempt to deflect from a credible allegation made by an adult woman, by trying to impugn my mother who has only ever been supportive of me and my siblings.”

In recent months, industry members have taken both staunch and vague stances when it comes to Allen. Greta Gerwig, Rebecca Hall, and Michael Caine have stated they would not work with Allen again. Timothée Chalamet, like Hall, made the decision to donate his entire salary to Time’s Up, RAINN, and the LGBT Center in New York. And, in some cases, they deeply regret the decision they made to work with him. Still, the director is working on new projects despite Amazon Studio‘s decision to cut ties.

And it doesn’t appear that the conversation is going away anytime soon. The Cannes Film Festival proved to be yet another big moment for the Time’s Up and #MeToo movements, with Cate Blanchett leading the way. The film industry is rapidly changing. And when we talk about these movements, Allen’s name has come up time and again. And it is doubtful this will be the last time.
