Timothée Chalamet Donating His Salary From Woody Allen Movie

As the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements continue, Hollywood is beginning to abandon Woody Allen. The director has long faced an allegation of sexual assault by Dylan Farrow, and in recent weeks and months, Ellen Page, Greta Gerwig, and Rebecca Hall have expressed their regret about working with the filmmaker. Now, another actor is speaking out.

Call Me By Your Name” and “Lady Bird” star Timothée Chalamet, who like Hall stars in Allen’s upcoming “A Rainy Day In New York,” issued a statement on Instagram yesterday, announcing he was donating his fee on Allen’s movie to charity. “I have been asked in a few recent interviews about my decision to work on a film with Woody Allen last summer … What I can say is this: I don’t want to profit from my work on the film, and to that end, I am going to donate my entire salary,” the actor. Chalamet likely won’t be the last actor asked about their association with Allen. Selena Gomez is also in the upcoming movie from the director, and her mother claims she advised her daughter against working with Allen (though it should be noted, the parent is no longer involved in Gomez’s career and there seem to be other issues at play).

At any rate, looking at the larger picture, Allen’s once teflon ability to sidestep the allegation that has lingered over his career for decades might be over. One wonders if anybody will be left to promote “A Rainy Day In New York,” or if Amazon will continue with their plans to release it. The film is currently in post-production with no release date set.
