'My Dinner With Hervé' Teaser: Peter Dinklage Brings The 'Fantasy Island' Actor To Life In HBO Film

For most people, the name Hervé Villechaize is forever linked to the line “Ze plane! Ze plane!” As the actor who portrayed the character named Tattoo on TV’s “Fantasy Island,” Villechaize became a household name in the ‘70s. But outside of his role on the film, the actor remained a bit of a mystery to most viewers.

Now, thanks to the upcoming HBO film, “My Dinner with Hervé,” viewers will get a chance to learn more about the man behind Tattoo. And in the first teaser for the film, we see how actor Peter Dinklage dons some prosthetics and brings the late actor to life. Dinklage is joined in the film by actor Jamie Dornan, who is mainly known as the Grey in “50 Shades of Grey.”

The film follows the true story of an unlikely friendship between a journalist and the “Fantasy Island’ actor. ‘Dinner’ follows one wild night in LA after the two meet that will have life-changing consequences for both.

“My Dinner with Hervé” hits HBO on October 20.

Here’s the synopsis:

Inspired by a real story, MY DINNER WITH HERVE explores the unlikely friendship between struggling journalist Danny Tate (Dornan) and Hervé Villechaize (Dinklage), the world’s most famous knife-wielding French dwarf actor, as it unfolds over one wild night in LA – an encounter that will have life-changing consequences for both. The film also stars: Mireille Enos as Hervé’s longtime girlfriend, Kathy Self; Harriet Walter as Danny’s newspaper editor, Fiona Baskin; Oona Chaplin as Danny’s girlfriend, Katie Nielson; with David Strathairn as Villechaize’s longtime agent, Marty Rothstein; and Andy García as Ricardo Montalbán, Villechaize’s “Fantasy Island” co-star. Directed by Sacha Gervasi, with a screenplay by Gervasi and story by Gervasi & Sean Macaulay, the film is executive produced by Steven Zaillian, Richard Middleton, Ross Katz, Jessica de Rothschild, Sacha Gervasi and Peter Dinklage. Garrett Basch and David Ginsberg serve as co-executive producers.
