As comic book movies are proving to be a big deal at the box office, it’s no surprise that the television world is hoping to lure the same audience. Developing steadily over the past few months, Deadline reports that NBC has now found a director for their “Constantine” pilot: Neil Marshall. The filmmaker has found a strong foothold on the small screen, helming episodes of “Game Of Thrones” and “Black Sails.” He’ll help kick off David Goyer‘s vision of the DC Comics character, “an enigmatic and irreverent con man-turned-reluctant supernatural detective who is thrust into the role of defending us against dark forces from beyond.” No word yet on who will play John Constantine, but we’re sure that announcement is just around the corner.
Meanwhile, it’s perhaps wise that following the turmoil of “World War Z,” Deadline reports that Marc Forster is keeping things a bit more manageable by heading to Amazon Studios to direct “Hand Of God.” Ron Perlman will star in the series about “a hard-living, law-bending married man with a high-end call girl on the side who has a religious awakening and starts having visions and hearing voices through his ventilator-bound son that could be God speaking to him.” Well, we’ll say this, “Burn Notice” executive producer Ben Watkins has come up with a helluva concept. Production begins in March.
Lastly, while Danny Boyle‘s pilot for “Babylon” airs in February, the actual series hasn’t been shot yet. But it will get in front of cameras this spring, and “Filth” filmmaker Jon S. Baird has revealed to Empire, he’ll be behind three episodes. Needless to say, he’s pretty happy to be collaborating with Boyle. “He’s set a style, which is a Danny Boyle style with high production values, and that’s very exciting,” he explained. “But if he’s asked you to work with him, there’s an element of trust there as well.
