Got a Tip?

New Bromance: Jamie Foxx & Ken Jeong Line Up Two Comedy Projects Together

Jamie FoxxThe tale of Ken Jeong is a pretty awesome one. He was working as a doctor while honing his comedy chops at stand-up clubs, and eventually moved to L.A. and started pursuing a career in showbiz full time. He worked the comedy circuit, did guest stints on a bunch of shows, eventually fell in with the Apatow gang, and came to much bigger attention after his turn as the asshole doctor in "Knocked Up." From there came "The Hangover," then "Community" and the rest, as they say, is history. Now he's stepping up into bigger and better things.

Jamie Foxx has taken a shine to Jeong, and the pair have agreed to participate in two movies, one written by Jeong, and the other written by Foxx. The first is "After Prom," penned and produced by Jeong, that will feature the pair as two old high school pals who have to now steer their own kids through the prom ritual. Of their characters, Foxx says one will be a jock and the other a cool guy, but aren't jocks the cool guys? Maybe we haven't been in high school for a while.

The other movie is "All-Star Weekend," which Foxx is writing and producing, about two friends who are basketball fans, but one likes Kobe Bryant and the other LeBron James. Foxx will take a cameo role in this one, with Kevin Hart co-starring.

While these concepts may seem rather old fashioned and broad, they play to the strengths of Jeong and Foxx (and Hart) in that it will allow them plenty of room to riff and improv. No directors and no word yet on when either of these will shoot, but we're intrigued if only to see a new comedy team up on the big screen. We like the dudes involved, so hopefully they can create something memorable. [LA Times]
