Next week, the Cannes Film Festival will unveil their slate for 2014, and one movie you can put good money on being there is David Cronenberg‘s “Maps To The Stars.” The director continues his run of psychological dramas/thrillers with another change in direction, one that moves away from the more traditional (for Cronenberg) “A Dangerous Method” and the contained “Cosmopolis,” while reuniting him with his new muse, Robert Pattinson.
Co-starring John Cusack, Julianne Moore, Mia Wasikowska, Olivia Williams and Sarah Gadon, the Bruce Wagner-penned film follows the Weiss family, a Hollywood dynasty where each member has their own array of problems, with drugs, pyromania and ghostly visions all in the mix. And a new image of Wasikowska’s Agatha, recently released from a sanitorium, has arrived along with an Italian teaser poster (via Thinking Of Rob) which reveals the movie will be out in Italy shortly before Cannes wraps up.
As for the U.S., there’s no distributor or release date yet but as Cannes draws closer, that would all change eOne will release the film, but no date has been set just yet. And fyi, it has already been rated R.
