With Jane Campion named as the jury president for 67th Cannes Film Festival earlier this week, so begins the forward look to the events on the Croisette in May. While the lineup is still a long way off from begin announced, if we were betting men, we’d put a good wager on David Cronenberg‘s “Maps To The Stars“. Now, there’s an indication that a cut of the movie is finished.

In their weekly update of recently announced MPAA ratnigs, Rope Of Silicon reveal that “Maps To The Stars” has shockingly been given an R-rating for strong disturbing violence and sexual content, graphic nudity, language and some drug material.” In a Cronenberg, movie? No way!

Starring John Cusack, Julianne Moore, Mia Wasikowska, Robert Pattinson, Olivia Williams and Sarah Gadon, the Bruce Wagner penned movie is vicious look at a twisted Hollywood dynasty, in what is said to be a satire/takedown of the industry. Here’s the official synopsis:

The Weiss family is the archetypical Hollywood dynasty: father Sanford is an analyst and coach, who has made a fortune with his self-help manuals; mother Christina mostly looks after the career of their son Benjie, 13, a child star.

One of Sanford’s clients, Havana, is an actress who dreams of shooting a remake of the movie that made her mother, Clarice, a star in the ’60s. Clarice is dead now and visions of her come to haunt Havana at night. Adding to the toxic mix, Benjie has just come off a rehab program he joined when he was 9 and his sister, Agatha, has recently been released from a sanatorium where she was treated for criminal pyromania…
