‘Kiss Of The Spider Woman’ Trailer: Diego Luna, Tonatiuh, & Jennifer Lopez Star In Bill Condon’s Musical Remake Coming This October

Director Bill Condon known for “Dreamgirls” and Disney‘s billion-dollar hit “Beauty & the Beast” (a live-action remake starring Emma Watson), also writing alongside others, such as “Chicago” and “The Greatest Showman,” is making a grand return to musical genre with a new iteration of “Kiss of the Spider Woman” coming to theaters on October 10.

We’re now able to share a new trailer for the remake that boasts an impressive cast led by the multi-talented Jennifer Lopez (“Hustlers”), Diego Luna (“Andor”), and Tonatiuh (“Carry-On”).

A synopsis for the remake, courtesy of Roadside Attractions:

Bill Condon returns to the movie musical in this dazzling Technicolor-hued fantasy. Valentín (Diego Luna), a political prisoner, shares a cell with Molina (Tonatiuh), a window dresser convicted of public indecency. The two form an unlikely bond as Molina recounts the plot of a Hollywood musical starring his favorite silver screen diva, Ingrid Luna (Jennifer Lopez). Based on the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical hit.

Written and directed by Condon, the latest visionary adaptation of “Kiss of the Spider Woman” is based on the acclaimed 1976 novel by Argentinian writer Manuel Puig and the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical of the same name by playwright Terrence McNally (“Master Class”, “Ragtime”) and composer/lyricist team John Kander and Fred Ebb (“Cabaret,” “Chicago”).

Héctor Babenco previously helmed the 1985 feature film version that starred William Hurt, Raúl Julia, and Sônia Braga.

Condon, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Mark Scheinberg, Dani Bernfeld, Kevin Halloran, Michael Joe, Mickey Liddell, Pete Shilaimon, Whitney Williams, Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Courtney Baxter, Luna, D. Matt Geller, Pamela Thur, Sam Weisman, Daniel Weisman, and Margaux Weisman serve as executive producers on the new film as the producing team is led by Barry Josephson, Tom Kirdahy, and Greg Yolen.
