Got a Tip?

New Trailer For Romantic Comedy ‘In Bed With Victoria,’ Winner Of The Cannes Palm Dog

The Cannes Film Festival, with its grand, red carpeted covered staircase to the Lumiere Grand Théâtre Lumière, men in tuxedos and women in gowns attending premiere screenings, and an air of snooty cinephile prestige, hardly seems like the place that gives an award to dogs. But indeed, since 2001 they’ve done just that with the Palm Dog, and this year, the two canines who earned the acclaim were Nellie from Jim Jarmusch‘s “Paterson,” and taking the Jury Prize, Jacques, the French Dalmatian from Justine Triet’s “In Bed With Victoria.” I may not be a movie marketing expert, but I would think you’d want to point that out in the trailer for the film.

Sadly, Jacques is barely featured in this new promo for the movie which follows a criminal lawyer who hires a former drug dealer to be her au pair. As you might imagine, there are a lot of delightful misunderstandings and whatnot in this romantic comedy, but again, not enough dog in this trailer. Here’s the synopsis:

Victoria Spick, a criminal lawyer in a total sentimental void, meets at a wedding her friend Vincent and Sam, a former drug dealer she got out business. The next day, Vincent is accused of attempted murder by his girlfriend. The victim’s dog is the only witness. Reluctantly, Victoria accepts to defend Vincent, while she hires Sam as an au pair. This is just the beginning of troubled times for Victoria.

“In Bed With Victoria” opens in France on September 14th, but doesn’t yet have U.S. distribution.
