Nicolas Cage Film Where He Plays Nicolas Cage Trying To Land A Quentin Tarantino Role Gets A Release Date

The situation sounded almost too good to be true when it was announcedNicolas Cage playing Nicolas Cage in a film about Nicolas Cage going from actor to working with the CIA. And you know what they say about things that seem too good to be true? Well, in this case, everything seems to be working out, as Lionsgate has officially set a release date for the film and confirmed some details.

According to THR, “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent,” the aforementioned film starring Cage, will arrive in theaters on March 19, 2021. Yes, the film does actually star Cage playing a version of himself in a film that finds the fictional Cage on the hunt for a role in a Quentin Tarantino movie, while also dealing with the strained relationship with his teenage daughter. And through a series of events, the actor ends up with a ton of debt and getting paid to show up at a Mexican billionaire’s party. But once he is informed that the billionaire is actually a drug cartel kingpin and kidnapper of the daughter of a Mexican presidential candidate, Cage works with the CIA to gather information. So, yeah, basically a Nic Cage biopic.

“The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent” is written by Tom Gormican and Kevin Etten, with the latter gentleman also attached as director. The two men have an extensive history working on TV comedies including “Reaper,” “Workaholics,” “Scrubs,” and “Ghosted.”

And while everyone should be excited that this film is moving closer to production and that a release date has been confirmed, ‘Unbearable Weight’ is still more than a year away and things can change. In fact, that release date seems like it could become a bit problematic, as the film shares a date with “Tomb Raider 2” and the upcoming “Paranormal Activity” sequel. So, there’s a chance this date could change, once again. We’ll just have to wait and see.
