With principal photography just three weeks away, casting on the Mathew Vaughn-directed super hero film “X-Men: First Class” is quickly coming to a close, but names are being added to the list almost every day.
Following reports this morning that Rose Byrne was circling the role of Moira Taggert in the forthcoming “X-Men” film, Deadline now reports that Oliver Platt has joined the cast in a role known only as the The Man In Black who is not a mutant nor (we presume) Johnny Cash.
No other details are available. The film stars James McAvoy as Professor X, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Alice Eve as Emma Frost, Caleb Landry as Banshee, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Lucas Till as Havoc, Kevin Bacon as an unknown villain (we’ve heard whispers he’s a CIA-type, rather than a mutant), Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, “Twilight” star Edi Gathegi as Darwin, and the newly announced Jason Flemyng as Azazel.
“X-Men: First Class” shoots in London in early September and is scheduled to hit theaters June 3, 2011.
