Who will survive a brutal challenge? “The Long Walk” follows a group of young men competing in a daunting event. They must keep walking, no matter what, with only the last one standing declared a winner. This feature film adaptation of the 1979 Stephen King novel, scripted by J.T. Mollner (“Strange Darling”), offers a biting social commentary that stays true to its source. ‘Walk’ director Francis Lawrence is no stranger to apocalyptic stories that give young leads a voice. He’s notably helmed several entries in the “Hunger Games” film series, including “Mockingjay – Part 1 and Part 2.” Lawrence additionally serves as executive producer on the upcoming project.
“The Long Walk” features veteran actor Mark Hamill as The Major. Hamill finds himself in not one, but two King adaptations this year. His other King project, “The Life of Chuck,” will be released this summer. Cooper Hoffman, David Jonsson, Garrett Wareing, Tut Nyuot, Charlie Plummer, Ben Wang, Roman Griffin Davis, Jordan Gonzalez, Joshua Odjick, and Josh Hamilton co-star in ‘Walk,’ with Judy Greer another welcome addition to the cast.
