Olivia Wilde To Direct Upcoming Thriller 'Don't Worry, Darling' & Reteam With Her 'Booksmart' Writer

Apparently, director Olivia Wilde and writer Katie Silberman have developed quite the working relationship. After their first collaboration, “Booksmart,” received critical acclaim and is regarded as one of the best of 2019 so far, the duo signed to direct and write, respectively, a new comedy film for Universal. However, Wilde and Silberman are back at it and have decided to bring their talents to the realm of thrillers.

According to Variety, Olivia Wilde and Katie Silberman have agreed to develop a new psychological thriller titled “Don’t Worry, Darling.” Wilde will, obviously, be the director, while Silberman will rewrite a script that was originally penned by Shane and Carey Van Dyke. ‘Don’t Worry’ is a psychological thriller about a 1950s housewife whose reality begins to crack, revealing a disturbing truth underneath.

As mentioned, Wilde and Silberman broke out earlier this year thanks to “Booksmart.” The film marked the first time Wilde stepped behind the camera after having a very successful career as an actress. In fact, she’s currently in production co-starring with Jon Hamm and Sam Rockwell in the Clint Eastwood film, “The Ballad of Richard Jewell.”

Before “Booksmart,” Silberman wrote the films “Set It Up” and “Isn’t It Romantic?” Her latest script for “Most Dangerous Game” is set to go into production soon.

There’s no expected release date for “Don’t Worry, Darling,” and as we’ve covered above, Wilde and Silberman are both very busy ladies. It’s still unclear if ‘Darling’ will be next in line for the duo or if they’ll begin work on the “holiday comedy” for Universal. Either way, if it’s half as good as “Booksmart,” consider us game.
