Got a Tip?

Patrick Stewart Says There’s Been ‘Deadpool 3’ Talks But Nothing Confirmed & Says ‘Multiverse Of Madness’ Was “Frustrating”

2024 will mostly be a mean and lean year for superhero movies. Sure, Sony has three (“Venom 3,” “Kraven The Hunter,” and “Madame Web”), but the heavyweights of Marvel and DC only have one each (DC’s being “Joker: Folie a Deux”). Marvel’s single 2024 title is “Deadpool 3,” starring Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Directed by Shawn Levy, it’s said to feature a ton of cameos from the 20th Century Fox movie, and even Levy has suggested there’s truth to those rumors without ever spoiling one of them.

So, who will appear? Well, strongly rumored is Patrick Stewart as Professor X, who already appeared briefly in the MCU film, “Doctor Strange And The Multiverse Of Madness,” a Professor X from an alternative multiverse. Stewart has already suggested a “Deadpool 3” appearance is possible, and on a recent episode of Happy Sad Confused, he said as much, too, but couldn’t confirm anything.

“I have every confidence he’s still around,” Stewart quipped when told that Professor X has died in four Marvel movies so far. So, getting to it, will he be in “Deadpool 3?”

“It has come up, there’s been a process,” Stewart admitted of conversations of him appearing in the film, “but the last two-three years have been so difficult with the labor problems and the health problems, COVID, you know…” he trailed off. So, it’s not a no, but maybe file under: maybe, and it’s complicated.

Talking about his appearance in “Doctor Strange And The Multiverse Of Madness,” Stewart said the process of shooting that film was “frustrating” because COVID protocols demanded that he didn’t actually shoot alongside any of the members of the Illuminati cast, including Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen.

“I was alone,” Stewart said of all his scenes in the Sam Raimi directing movie. “In the big scene, each one of the leading actors had the same [solo] experience; they were shot on their own. It was frustrating and disappointing, but that’s how it has been. The last few years have been challenging.

For fans of “Star Trek” and “Picard,” the “Picard” series may be over at Paramount+, but Stewart says he hopes that cast will go forward into one more “Star Trek” movie, but who knows, we’ll see if Paramount take the bait on that given they still haven’t figured out “Star Trek 4,” and there is talk that Paramount could merge with Warner Bros. Discovery. Either way, check out the entire conversation below.
