New ‘Lisa Frankenstein’ Trailer: Kathryn Newton Stars In Diablo Cody’s Return To Genre Fare On February 9

No Madonna biopic? No problem for Diablo Cody. Instead of tackling the pop icon’s life story for the big screen, the screenwriter returns to genre comedy for the first time since 2009’s “Jennifer’s Body” for her latest script. That’s a long time away from horror, but hey, at least “Lisa Frankenstein” isn’t 2013’s “Paradise,” Cody’s first (and only) foray into directing.

Instead, Zelda Williams, scion of the late, great Robin Williams, helms her feature debut with Cody’s new screenplay. And “Lisa Frankenstein” is a hybrid of teen movie, horror film, and Mary Shelley‘s classic 1818 novel. In the film, Kathryn Newton stars as a high school outsider who finds love in the most unlikely source: a reanimated corpse.
