Got a Tip?

Danny DeVito Believes His Penguin Is “Better Than Colin Farrell’s” From ‘The Batman’

Fans often attempt to compare different versions of comic book characters on the big screen as portrayed by different actors. Recently, Danny Devito weighed in on who played the superior version of Batman villain, The Penguin. DeVito was hooked up to a lie detector for Vanity Fair with his daughter Lucy DeVito asking him various questions to seek truthful answers.

In that process, the actor revealed he believes his incarnation of the Penguin from “Batman Returns” is “better than” Colin Farrell’s version from “The Batman.”

“I love Colin. He’s a terrific guy. My Penguin was better.” DeVito then addressed the polygraph examiner, saying, “Was that the truth? It most certainly was. In my opinion.”

It’s worth mentioning DeVito and Farrell previously worked together on Tim Burton’s live-action “Dumbo” remake for Disney

Farrell revealed earlier this month to ET that Matt Reeves is not only involved with the writing of the series but is seemingly handpicking the show’s directors. He also clarified that it won’t be Reeves taking on any directing responsibilities for “The Penguin.”

“Matt’s up to his bollocks, you know, hovering over the keyboard and just planning the story because he’s just so meticulous,” Farrell said. “He’s so obsessive about what he does, but he’s all over [HBO Max’s] The Penguin [series] as well. I mean, he’s not gonna direct it but he’s all over the structure of the scripts and who’s gonna direct them. And so, it’s exciting,” Farrell said.

Farrell is expected to begin shooting his “Penguin” spinoff series at HBO Max (spared from David Zaslav‘s axe) early next year and we could speculate about his return for “The Batman” sequel that is currently being penned by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin.
