Rick Riordan‘s “Percy Jackson & The Olympians” was one of the biggest YA fantasy series of the 2000s, capitalizing on the road paved by the “Harry Potter” series. But the 2010 and 2013 films based on the series didn’t really connect with either critics or audiences. Now it’s time to see if the series format works better for the source material, as Disney+ has a “Percy Jackon And The Olympians” series on the way, ready to debut on the streamer on December 20.

For those unfamiliar with the book, Percy Jackson is a 12-year-old modern demigod who must prevent Kronos and other Titans from destroying the world. The Disney+ series follows on particular adventure of Jackson’s, with the kid facing off against the might Zeus, who accuses Percy of stealing his master lightning bolt. With his friends Grover and Annabeth in tow, Percy embarks on an exciting adventure.
Walker Scobell leads the series cast as Percy Jackson, with Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth and Aryan Simhadri as Grover. Other case includes Lin-Manuel Miranda, Megan Mullally, Toby Stephens, Virginia Kull, Jason Mantzoukas, Jay Duplass, Glynn Turman, and Lance Reddick. Adam Copeland, Charlie Bushnell, Dior Goodjohn, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Olivea Morton, Suzanne Cryer, Timm Sharp, and Timothy Omundson round out the main cast.
Jon Steinberg and Dan Shotz serve as showrunners on “Percy Jackson And The Olympians,” with Riordan working closely with them for the series. James Bobin directs the first two episodes of the series. Executive producers beyond Riordan, Steinberg and Shotz include Rebecca Riordan and Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Bret Salke, Jeremy Bell and D.J. Goldberg from The Gotham Group.
