“Stranger Things” may be coming to an end, but Millie Bobby Brown‘s relationship with Netflix may not be. Deadline reports the actress is in final talks to star as Olympic champion gymnast Kerri Strug in Gia Coppola‘s upcoming biopic “Perfect,” and the streamer is interested in landing the package.
Ronnie Sandhal pens the film’s script, centered on Strug’s remarkable performance as part of the 1996 USA gymnastics team, nicknamed “The Magnificent Seven.” Strug had one of the most memorable moments in US Olympic history that year when she landed a vault perfectly despite a badly injured ankle. Brown will produce the project via her PMCA banner, with Nik Bower also prodcing for Riverstone Pictures and Thomas Benski via Magna Studios. Netflix eyes a Spring 2026 shoot once negotiations are final.
“Perfect” will be yet another Netflix project for Brown, whose stardom rose thanks to her role as Eleven on “Stranger Things.” The other two upcoming projects for the streamer are “Enola Holmes 3” and “Just Picture It” with Gabriel LaBelle. Meanwhile, Netflix will begin its rollout of “Stranger Things” Season 5 with four episodes premiering on November 26. The show’s final season will get released in three parts, with three more episodes debuting on December 25, and the series finale on December 31.
As for Coppola, she’s coming off of “The Last Showgirl,” a film that surprised critics at TIFF last year and led to an awards season run for its star, Pamela Anderson. Other features for Coppola include her 2014 debut “Palo Alto” and her 2020 film “Mainstream.”
So, will “Perfect” be an awards season contender for Millie Bobby Brown like “I, Tonya” was for Margot Robbie back in 2017? On paper, it looks like it, but let’s see what Netflix’s plans are for the film first. Expect Coppola’s film to be ready for audiences in late 2026.
