If you haven’t been able to sleep or eat since Betty Thomas bailed on “Alvin & The Chipmunks 3” with the the film on the eve of beginning production, you can rest easy tonight as it appears the project may have found a new director.
Mike Mitchell, who made us laugh and cry directing “Shrek Forever After” and “Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo,” is in negotiations to take the reigns of the film. Details on the byzantine plot of the film are being kept under wraps, but it will apparently involve a shipwreck, which will most likely lead to squeaky voice renditions of Beach Boys songs and Jason Lee wearing coconuts for shoes.
No decision yet on if this will shoot in 3D or not, but either way it will destroy your eyes when it hits theaters next December.
