Quentin Tarantino Talks Being A “Cheerleader” For Violence, ‘Kill Bill 3’ & Does Surprise ‘Hateful Eight’ Q&A At Alamo Drafthouse

Quentin Tarantino, The Hateful EightWhile you might see some articles comparing Quentin Tarantino‘s latest to an Agatha Christie whodunit, make no mistake, there is blood spilled in "The Hateful Eight." Lots of it. The director doesn’t hold back on the gruesome violence in his latest film, and if that bothers you, he’s totally fine if you buy a ticket to watch something else, because that facet of his filmmaking won’t be changing anytime soon.

"I’m so unapologetic about it," he told MTV about the carnage in his films. "I’m a cheerleader towards violence in cinema. I have no problem with saying I like violent movies, and I respond to violent movies, and I actually think violence is…in some ways cinema reaching one of its fullest potentials. I have absolutely no hypocrisy or contradiction whatsoever. I abhor violence in real life, and I can love it in genre, and I can love it in stories, and I can love it in novels, I love violent anime, and I always have.”
"I’m not sheepish about it, I don’t have to walk back on my heels and come up with a moral justification, it needs no justification," he added. "And people can absolutely, positively, accuse my movies of being bloodthirsty. And they might very well be right. And if that’s not your cup of tea, then you should drink another cup of tea."

Basically, Tarantino is politely shutting your butt down before it turns into an issue.

Meanwhile, out on the press circuit, the helmer continues to talk about the movies he might do, and once again, he teases the possibility of "Kill Bill 3."

"I’m not committing to it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if The Bride made one more appearance before the whole thing is said and done," he told Variety. "I am talking to Uma about it just a little bit. Some of the stuff that I’d written that never made it into the movie that maybe I could use."

But before he can sit down to write, Tarantino has "The Hateful Eight" obligations to fulfill, which last night included dropping by the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin for a surprise Q&A with Robert Rodriguezwatch it in full right here.

Lastly, RZA has remixed Adrian Younge‘s "Hands Of God" featuring Karolina and Laetitia Sadier, in celebration of the release of "The Hateful Eight." RZA’s verse reference the film, and you can listen to it below.
