And while it’s set in present day, Bleecker Street has a new retro, ’70s-style teaser for the film that harks back to its roots. Riz Ahmed and Lily James star.
Here’s an official synopsis for “Relay,” courtesy of Bleecker Street:
In “Relay,” Riz Ahmed plays a world-class “fixer” who specializes in brokering lucrative payoffs between corrupt corporations and the individuals who threaten their ruin. He keeps his identity a secret through meticulous planning and always follows an exacting set of rules. But when a message arrives one day from a potential client (Lily James), needing his protection just to stay alive, the rules quickly start to change.
Along with Ahmed and James, “Relay” also stars Sam Worthington, Willa Fitzgerald, Matthew Maher, Helen Eigenberg, and Pun Bandhu. Eisa Davis, Purva Bedi, Aaron Roman Weiner, and Reed Northrup also star. Sasha Sen, Brian O’Neill, and José Báez round out the main cast.
David Mackenzie directs a script by Justin Piasecki for “Relay.” Producers on the film include Gillian Berrie, Basil Iwanyk, Mackenzie, and Teddy Schwarzman. Executive producers include Brendon Boyea, John Friedberg, Michael Heimler, Erica Lee, Per Melita, and Charlie Morrison.
“Relay” had its world premiere at TIFF last year, where it received generally favorable reviews from critics. The Playlist’s review awarded the film a C+, calling it “a very fun ride.”
