'Saw 8' Reportedly In Active Development At Lionsgate

Horror franchises don’t die, they just remain undead. And so even though “Saw 3D,” the seventh installment of the series only limped to $68 million worldwide, a far cry from the $100 million plus gross of its predecessors, it seems the franchise may live to see another day. Why? Because in total, the low-budget movies have brought in over $870 million worldwide, that’s why.

According to Bloody Disgusting, “Lionsgate is incredibly active in developing an eighth ‘Saw’ ” though that’s about where the news ends. It’s not quite clear whether or not they’re waiting for the “perfect take” to deliver “a new direction for the franchise” or if they just want to flat out make “Saw 8.” Either way, we doubt it takes up too much brain power to come up with a new way to piggyback off the already silly series and find new ways to gruesomely, tortuously kill people.

A longtime Halloween tradition, it looks like Jigsaw may once again return with another diabolical scheme. Definitely scary, in more ways than one.
