While many people know Sebastian Stan from his decade-plus working with Marvel Studios as Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier, he’s also known to more discerning film fans as an actor who loves to take on risky roles. And his latest feature from A24, titled “A Different Man,” is yet another interesting choice from Stan.

Today, A24 announced plans to produce “A Different Man,” the new feature from writer-director Aaron Schimberg. Here’s the description of the film from A24: “Edward is an outcast seeking a new life and fresh start. After he undergoes facial reconstructive surgery, he becomes fixated on a man starring as him in a stage production based on his former life.”
Stan, as you might expect, is set to play the lead role, but he’s joined by one of the most buzz-y actresses working today, Renate Reinsve, who wowed audiences in “The Worst Person in the World.” In between his stints as a superhero, Stan has appeared in films and TV shows such as “Destroyer,” “I, Tonya,” “Endings, Beginnings,” “Monday,” “Fresh,” and the recently concluded series, “Pam and Tommy.” He definitely likes to go outside his comfort zone when he’s not wearing a big metal arm for Marvel Studios.
Schimberg previously helmed features such as “Go Down Death” and “Chained for Life.” Christine Vachon and Gabriel Mayers of Killer Films, Vanessa McDonnell of Grand Motel Films, and Jason Reif will produce “A Different Man.” Stan will executive produce.
A release date for “A Different Man” has yet to be announced, but this is definitely a project we’ll be anxiously awaiting.
