‘She Will’ Trailer: Charlotte Colbert’s Gothic Psychological Horror Is Produced By Dario Argento

When a new feature from a young filmmaker debuts, it’s sometimes difficult to know if it’s something you should keep an eye on. However, from the very beginning of the trailer for “She Will,” you can immediately tell that Charlotte Colbert’s horror film is very much worth a watch. 

You see, the beginning of the trailer for “She Will” not only highlights that horror legend Dario Argento is an executive producer of the film, lending his highly sought-after seal of approval, but also the first pull quote for the film is from none other than Alfonso Cuaron. Two incredible filmmakers of that stature lending their support for a film is more than enough to grab the attention of even the most cautious film fan.

Then when you get to the content of the film and you realize this is a feature steeped in gothic style and witchy vibes, with a cast led by the truly great Alice Krige, there’s no way you can avoid “She Will.” This is a film that demands genre film fans’ attention. 

The film stars Alice Krige, Kota Eberthardt, Malcolm McDowell, and Rupert Everett. “She Will” is directed by Charlotte Colbert. And if you’re someone who pays attention to composers, you’ll probably be excited to know that Clint Mansell provides the music for the thriller. “She Will” has been making the festival rounds over the past year and even won Best First Feature at the 2021 Locarno Film Festival. 

“She Will” debuts in theaters and VOD on July 15. You can watch the trailer below.

Here’s the synopsis:

SHE WILL is a gothic-tinged drama about a declining movie star, Veronica Ghent (Alice Krige) who after a difficult surgery, goes to a healing retreat in rural Scotland with her young nurse Desi (Kota Eberhardt). With her own identity in doubt, Veronica starts to confront past traumas endured on movie sets. The two women develop an unlikely bond as mysterious natural of the wilderness give Veronica the power to enact revenge.
